He leaves one brother, Daniel Gould, and one sister, Cathrine, both of Ulysses, together with other relatives and a wide circle of friends to mourn his departure. Mr. Gould was the son of the late John and Margaret Gould of Ulysses. Deceased, with his parents, four sisters and one brother came to Nebraska from Illinois 31 years ago and had lived here ever since. Two children of the Gould family rest in Illinois, while 3 sisters sleep in the Catholic cemetery near town. But two of the eight children survive, Daniel and Cathrine. James had been in poor health a few years ago but for some time past had enjoyed excellent health and expected to come home soon for a visit. He was in the employ of Dr. Seybert of Council Bluffs and it appears that gas from a stove in a room near which the deceased was sleeping caused his death by asphyxiation. The condolence of their many friends is extended to the surviving brother and sister who are called upon to part this suddenly from their dear one. James Gould was a man of exemplary habits and high ideals and had the respect and esteem of alll with whom he came in contact. The writer has heard naught but good said of him during his many years as a resident of Ulysses. The remains were brought to Ulysses Sunday afternoon and funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic church Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. Father Laughran officiated at a requiem High Mass. Many friends were present to pay the last respects to one who was in every way worthy. Interment was made by the side of relatives in St. Mary's cemetery. E. B. L.
