Pike died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Robinson in Papillion, where she had made her home, Saturday morning after an illness of about one week. She had enjoyed fairly good health for one so advanced in years until a few days before her death which was due to infirmities incident to old age. Elizabeth {Miller } Pike was born April 7, 1834 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, being the second daughter of Samuel Miller, and was the last member of her family to pass. She spent her early days in the east, coming to Bellevue with the family later. There she was united in marriage with James M. Pike in September 1866. To this union two children were born, William who died in his youth, and Ellis, of Waterloo. Her husband, James passed away in Papillion in 1884. She had resided here a good many years, and during the past few years made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Robinson who have showered every kindness upon her and filled her last days with peace, contentment and happiness. The funeral was held Monday afternoon, short services being held at the Robinson home at 1:30, and later from the Methodist church, of which she was a life long member, the pastor of the Methodist church at Waterloo, officiating. A mixed quartet from the church here sang several hymns and a short but eloquent funeral sermon was delivered by the minister in charge. Burial was made in the Pike Family lot in Papillion cemetery beside the remains of her husband and son. This estimable lady had lived many years beyond the allotted span of three score years and ten, and leaves behind many kindly remembrances. 1921 The Waterloo Gazette; Waterloo, Nebraska; Friday, November 25, 1921, page 1 MRS. ELIZABETH MILLER PIKE Mrs. Elizabeth M. Pike, mother of E. N. Pike of Waterloo, died Saturday, November 19, 1921, at Papillion. Elizabeth {Miller } Pike was born on April 7, 1834 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was the second daughter of Samuel and Ann Miller and was the last member of her family to pass. After an illness of one week, she passed at the age of 87 years, 8 months, a the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Robinson, who had showered every kindness upon her and filled her last days with happiness. She was married at Bellevue, Nebraska to James M. Pike in September, 1866. To them were born two children, William, who died in youth, and Ellis. Her husband, James, died in 1884 at Papillion. She has been a member of the Methodist church from an early age. Funeral services were held Monday November 21, at 2 p.m. from the St. Paul's M. E. church at Papillion, and Rev. Philip N. Shedd of Waterloo officiated. Interment was at the Papillion cemetery.
