A previous cemetery transcription project and the death record inadvertently listed the maiden name as "McClellan", dropping the ending "d", which may have affected searches for her parents by other researchers. Relationship to these parents are entered April 4, 2017. The exact DOB is somewhat uncertain - the inscription gives the year as 1871, the death record lists it as Nov. 19, 1871, but the obituary listed it as Nov. 9, 1872. Will use Nov. 19,... Second wife of Andrew Robert Speer, married October 19, 1909 in Fairfield, Jefferson county, Iowa. SPEER PASSES AWAY Funeral Services Will Be Held Tomorrow Afternoon At Home Near the City Mrs. A. R. Speer died Sunday morning at 10:25 oclock at her home 7 miles southeast of the city after an illness of ten days. She has been in failing health for the past 18 months. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:20 oclock at the home in charge of Dr. Gilbert Voorhies. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery. Mrs. Speer was born Nov. 9, 1872 (sic) near Crawfordsville and spent her early life there, later moving to Brighton and then to this county where she has lived the past 18 years. Besides her husband she is survived by the following children: Grant Lindsay, Mrs. Louis Droz, Mrs. H. D. Grissom, Verne and Floyd Speer of this city and I. M. Speer of Batavia, Ill. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Mrs. M. G. Campbell of Ainsworth, Mrs. Earl Kendrick of Redfield, Kans., J. W. and F. G. McClelland of Brighton and J. S. McClelland of Selma, Calif.
