Adams passed away at er home in this city Friday morning, April 22, 1932, aged 80 years and 7 months. She had been an invalid for about four years, as the result of injuries received in a fall. Elizabeth Paice, the seventh of nine children of James and Euphenia Paice, was born near Kewanee, Henry county, Illnois, September 22, 1851. She was left an orphan at an early age. On January 19, 1873, she was married to Lewis H. Adams, of Sheffield, Ill. To this union were born six children, two of whom died in infancy. Orwin LeRoy, of Kearney, Neb. Arthur G., of Akron, Iowa, Chester Hills, N. Y., and Mrs. Vera Thatcher, of Akron, Iowa, one brother, John Paice, of Chicago, Ill.; nine nephews, four nieces, thirteen grandchildren, three daughters-inlaw, one son-in-law, along with her aged husband anr the immediate relatives surviving her. In 1882, she, with her husband and two children, left Tampico, Ill., for Holstein, Iowa. Two years later they homesteaded southeast of Akron, Iowa, where, with the exception of two years spent in Nebraska and southwest Iowa, they lived until moving into Akron a number of years ago. Her life was that of a pioneer, with accompanying hardships. Of a persistent, thrifty nature derived from her English father ande Scotch mother, she never favored herself in service to those considered worthy. The great sorrow of her last years was that she was a burden to others. Few of her day and generation survive her, yet to the end she was interested in things of the present. Early in life she became a member of the United Brethren church, about 1888 uniting with the Methodist Episcopal church in Akron, and later affilating with the Church of Christ of Akron. Funeral services were held in the home and in the Christian church on Sunday, conducted by the pastor, W. H. McDonald. There was a large attendance of relatives, neighbors and friendsw in tribute of respect to the departed. The pallbearers were J. W. Hendricks, Clair McCorkell, A. B. Johnson, Arvel Lake, Lloyd Lemen and Albert Elliott. Interment was in Riverside cemetery. One son, O. L. Adams, came from Kearney, Neb., and another son, C. A. Adams, of Forest Hills, N. Y., was at his mother's beside a few days before her death. Other relatives were present at the funeral from Holstein, Le Mars, and Sioux City.
