ADAMS IS CALLED TO HIS FINAL REWARD Pioneer Resident Summoned Following an Illness of About Four Years L. H. Adams, an esteemed pioneer resident of this community, departed this life on Saturday, April 22, 1933, at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 14 days, at his home in this city. He had been in failing health for over four years, the last two months bedfast from a light stroke. Lewis Huntley Adams eighth of eleven children of Rodney and Lydia Stover Adams, was born near Sheffield, Illnois, March 8, 1861. His wife, Elizabeth Paice Adams, prceded him in death just one year to the day, at the age of 80 years and 7 months. They were married January 19, 1873, in Illinois. To this union were born six children, two dying in infancy. The others, Orwin L., of Kerney, Neb. Arthur G. of Akron, Iowa; Chester A. of Forest Hills, Y.Y., and Mrs Vera L. Thatcher, of Akron, along with many nieces, and grandchildren and other relatives survive. He will be missed by those near to him, but they sorrow not as those who have no hope of a final reunion. He had been a member f th eMethodist church, first, and later of the Church of Christ for many years. As a pioneer who first settled near Holstein, Iowa, in 1862, and in 1884 homesteading southeast of 'Akron, Ia., later moving to town in 1896, he was known far and wide for his happy lovable disposition. Ever ready to aid in time of need, he yet stood firm for his own and others rights and privileges. He was the last of his name and generation whose forebears pioneered at York, Maine, three hundred years ago. Few of his day and age remain, but their heritage to those who follow is worthy and enmobing. After scripture reading and prayer at the home funeral services were held in the Church of Christ, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. H. Mc Donald, the pastor. Favorite hymns were sung by a quartet comprised of Mrs. Ruth Swift, Mrs. W. H. McDonald, Andrew Tillotson and W. H. McDonald. The pallbearers were W. H. Morse, J. W. Hendricks, W. W. Ross, E. J. Hammer, J H. Pollock and J. L. McCorkell. Interment was in Riverside cemetery. Relatives from a distance in attendance at the funeral were; O. L. Adams, of Kearney, Neb.; Chester A. Adams, of Forest Hills, N.Y,; Mr. and Mrs. Will Pattison, of Le Mars, Ia.; Howard Pattison, Mr. and Mrs. James Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Christy and daughter, Nancy, of Sioux City, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Alva Norton, Mr. and Mrs. John Greve, of Holstein, Ia.; Perry Adams, of Clay Pool, Ind.; Mrs. Chas.
