Read More	LOCKARD, ELIZABETH—Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Smith of Geneva, Neb., was born in Fillmore county, July 4, 1896. She was married to Earl E. Lockard January 19, 1916. She became a Christian when quite young, and was for some years a member of the Baptist church. Since their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Lockard have resided in a number of places, but for the past year have lived in Lincoln, and at the time of her death, Mrs. Lockard was a member of the Christian church of that city, where she was held in highest esteem because of her usefulness and her consistent Christian life. She came to an untimely and accidental death in the afternoon of March 16, 1924, at the age of 27 years, 8 months, and 12 days. Her husband and little daughter Jeannette survive her and are plunged into deepest sorrow through this bereavement. Her father, mother, four brothers, Albert, Willis, Walter and Edmund; and three sisters, Mrs. Maude Hawkinson, Mrs. Edna Conn, and Mrs. Zella Low, are also left to mourn and feel most keenly the burden of this sorrow. We are all saddened by the tragic closing of the earthly life of this friend, and our hearts go out in sympathy to all who mourn. But we need not mourn as those who have no hope. The funeral services were held in the Geneva United Brethren church Wednesday afternoon. Rev. N. T. Harmon of Lincoln delivered the funeral discourse, being assisted in the service by Rev. E. H. Pontius, pastor of the church. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal, 1924. ALSO: The following has been contributed by Peggy Bargen Duey: Mrs. E.E. Lockard, formerly of Nelson, died in the hospital at Sutton, Sunday afternoon, from injuries received in an auto accident. Miss Edna Jacoby also received a dangerous skull fracture and at first was thought to have been fatally injured. She was also taken to the hospital, where she was later operated on and at this writing seems to be on the road to recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Lockard, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Sandlovich and Miss Edna Jacoby were on their way to Nelson. About two miles west of Sutton when the struck a rough stretch of road, Mr. Lockard who was driving the car at the time, lost control of the car and it crashed across a two-foot ditch, through a fence and then overturned in the field. The other occupants of the car escaped with but slight injuries. The funeral of Mrs. Lockard was held Wednesday at Geneva, her home before she was married. The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lockard was left at Exeter on the way out from Lincoln. Edna Jacoby is the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. George Jacoby of east Nelson, and she is well known here as were also Mr. and Mrs. Lockard.
