Description	:	SMITH, JOHN ARDEN—John Arden Smith was born at Boston in Lincolnshire County, England, July 7, 1854. He passed to the life beyond at his home in Geneva, Neb., October 7, 1932, having attained the age of 78 years and 3 months. In 1871 he came to America and located at Fond Du Lac, Wis., where he lived until 1882, when he moved to Fillmore County, Nebraska, and resided here until his death. Read More	SMITH, JOHN ARDEN—John Arden Smith was born at Boston in Lincolnshire County, England, July 7, 1854. He passed to the life beyond at his home in Geneva, Neb., October 7, 1932, having attained the age of 78 years and 3 months. In 1871 he came to America and located at Fond Du Lac, Wis., where he lived until 1882, when he moved to Fillmore County, Nebraska, and resided here until his death. He was married to Anna Barnett in 1884 and to this union were born ten children, four of whom preceded their father in death, two dying in infancy, Fred in 1908 and Mrs. Elizabeth Lockard in 1924. The immediate surviving relatives are his wife and six children: Albert of Graneill, Mont., Willis of Rantoul, Kas., Walter of Superior, Neb., and Edmund of Geneva, neb.; Mrs. Edna Conn of Fort Benton, Mont., and Mrs. Zella Lowe of Fairmont, Neb; also one step-daughter, Mrs. Al Hawkinson of Funk, Neb.; eleven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. All of the children were present except those who live in Montana. Mr. Smith became engaged in farming and followed this vocation until he retired to his home in Geneva, Neb., several years ago. He was a kind, good man, a loving and devoted husband and father, a true neighbor and friend, who always endeavored to exemplify Christian living in all respects. He has been a member in good standing of the United Brethren in Christ Church of Geneva for many years, and always kept faith in his God, whom he served and trusted. He never neglected his Christian duties, was a regular attendant at the services of his church as long as his health permitted and he constantly maintained the family altar in his home. Such a man always has many friends who join his relatives in sharing the community’s loss of a good man, and who extend their heartfelt sympathy to the surviving relatives.
