Description	:	Ellen Blades Manahan of Easton, MD died at her home on Thursday, October 10, 2013. She was 87. Born March 20, 1926 in Talbot County, she was the 2nd of eight children of the late, Harry Bolden and Della Moore Blades. She was a 1943 Graduate of Cordova High School and on June 15, 1952 she married George Alvin Manahan, Jr. As a young woman she began her career as a bookkeeper for the Esskay Poultry Plant and later worked as a sales associate for Wyatt Jewelers and then for Wrights Fabrics and Linens, assisting clients with fine linen purchases.... Born March 20, 1926 in Talbot County, she was the 2nd of eight children of the late, Harry Bolden and Della Moore Blades. She was a 1943 Graduate of Cordova High School and on June 15, 1952 she married George Alvin Manahan, Jr. As a young woman she began her career as a bookkeeper for the Esskay Poultry Plant and later worked as a sales associate for Wyatt Jewelers and then for Wrights Fabrics and Linens, assisting clients with fine linen purchases. As her career developed she worked for Captain's Ketch Seafood as an office worker and completed her career as a part time Saturday receptionist for Pensel and Walker. Mr. Manahan died on October 14, 2003. She loved being with her family and enjoyed helping her husband with his many projects; in addition she loved sewing, and traveling with the Oxford United Methodist Church and had visited every state except California, of this she was very proud. Her very kind and devoted brother, Gene, on every Sunday morning for 12 years has brought and enjoyed breakfast and conversation with her. Her brother Paul, always added a sparkle to her eye when he came for a visit, her nephew Curtis Satchell, who so generously shared his many talents from auto repair, his catch of the day or the fresh fruit and vegetables from his garden and her niece, Nancy Baker, that always has a special spot with in her heart. Mrs. Manahan is survived by her son, George Manahan, III and his wife, Nanci of Easton and a daughter, Della Stull and her husband, Kelly of Denton; four brothers, John Blades, Bryan Blades (Phyllis), Paul Blades (Frances) and Gene Blades (Jean); a sister, Jane Blades Asche (Paul); three grandsons, Matt, Britt and Will Manahan and a step-granddaughter, Shannon and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Virginia Blades Satchell and a brother, Robert Blades. Funeral services will be held at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton, MD on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM where friends and family may call from 10 – 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery, Easton, MD. Memorial donations may be made to the Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Drive, Easton, MD 21601 or to a favorite charity.
