Description	:	George A. Manahan, Jr. died at his home in Easton on Tuesday, October 14, 2003. He was 76. Born December 3, 1926 in Easton, MD, he was the son of the late George Alvin and Katie Dyott Manahan, Sr. After graduating from Easton High School in 1945, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Upon his release from active duty, he returned to Easton and took a position with E. S. Adkins where he remained until his retirement in 1988. Born December 3, 1926 in Easton, MD, he was the son of the late George Alvin and Katie Dyott Manahan, Sr. After graduating from Easton High School in 1945, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Upon his release from active duty, he returned to Easton and took a position with E. S. Adkins where he remained until his retirement in 1988. Until his death he had worked with his son at George's Green Thumb, where he was affectionately known as "Pop". A member of the Oxford United Methodist Church, he was active in the Methodist men's organization and a member of the Wesley Bible Class. A Scout Master of Boy Scouts of America #325 in Easton from 1966 to 1973, he was also a member of the Order of The Arrow. He was a past member of the Easton Lions Club and a Waterfowl Festival volunteer for many years. His hobbies included woodworking and he loved being with his family. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play ice hockey and never missed a game. Mr. Manahan is survived by his wife, the former Ellen Blades, whom he married June 15, 1952; a daughter, Della MacPherson of Easton; a son, George A. Manahan III and his wife Nanci, also of Easton; and three grandchildren, Matt Manahan, Britt Manahan and Will Manahan. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 11:00 AM at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton, where friends may call on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Eastern Shore Hockey Association Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1678, Easton, MD 21601.
