Description	:	STEPHENSON, ELLEN ELIZABETH—Ellen Elizabeth Stephenson, daughter of John and Anna Babb, was born at Columbus, O., October 16, 1858. She passed away at her home in Geneva, Neb., October 14, 1942, aged 83 years 11 months, and 28 days. As a young child she moved with her parents to Champaign county, Illinois, where she spent her girlhood. September 26, 1883, she was united in marriage to John W. Stephenson. Read More	STEPHENSON, ELLEN ELIZABETH—Ellen Elizabeth Stephenson, daughter of John and Anna Babb, was born at Columbus, O., October 16, 1858. She passed away at her home in Geneva, Neb., October 14, 1942, aged 83 years 11 months, and 28 days. As a young child she moved with her parents to Champaign county, Illinois, where she spent her girlhood. September 26, 1883, she was united in marriage to John W. Stephenson. To this union were born three children, two daughters, Mrs. Alice Watmore of Geneva, Neb., and Mrs. Helen Shickley of Dixon Ill., and one son Willard, who passed away at the age of eighteen. In 1890 they moved to Fillmore county, Nebraska, and lived on a farm two miles east and about a mile south of Geneva. In 1930 they retired and moved to Geneva. At an early age she united with the Presbyterian church. On coming to Nebraska she affiliated with the Congregational church and had been a faithful worker until her illness nearly two years ago. Mrs. Stephenson was a charter member of the Geneva Eastern Star chapter when it was instituted in 1904. She was active in the chapter many years, serving as worthy matron in 1908 and 1909. She leaves to mourn her passing, besides her husband and two daughters, five grandchildren, three great-grandsons, and two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Alice Bardwell of New York City, Miss Jessie C. Babb and George J. Babb of Champaign, Ill. The funeral was held at the Geneva Congregational church at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 17, with her former pastor, Rev. David Tudor, officiating, assisted by Rev. Phil B. Wahl. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal 22 Oct. 1942 page 5.
