According to her obituary she was born 1870 but her gravestone inscription says 1871. `````````````````````````````````` Ulysses Dispatch (Ulysses, Nebr.), December 20, 1934, p. 1, col. 6 OBITUARY Mrs. Jerry Gray Mrs. Jerry Gray was born in Willimantic, Conn., on August 20, 1870, and died at David City, Nebraska on December 10, 1934. Her maiden name was Nellie Morrison. She was married to Jerry Gray, Sr., in Seward, Nebraska, and to this union 5 children were born to bless this happy home, one daughter, Mary Ellen, died in infancy. The surviving children are Edward M. Gray of Hill City, S. D., Owen J. Gray and Gerald of David City and John M. Gray of Petaluma, Cal., who with the husband of David City and also one brother, Joseph Morrison of Petaluma, Cal., are left to mourn her departure. The brother and son John were unable to be present at the funeral. Mrs. Gray lived near Ulysses for many years, but, with her husband removed to California for one year, later coming to David City where they have since made their home. Deceased was a member if the Royal Neighbors, Catholic Daughters, Sacred Heart League and Altar Society of Ulysses. Mrs. Gray had been ill for a period of three years past, the past 18 months being of constant suffering which was patiently borne. Hers was an unselfish nature and many were the deeds of kindness shown to the poor and needy which will not be forgotten by them. Her outlook on life was ever cheerful and sunny and she invariably saw the bright side of life and will be greatly missed not only in her home but in the several organizations with which she was affiliated. She was a regular attendant at mass as long as health would permit. The surviving loved ones have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church in David City on Thursday morning, December 13, at ten o'clock when Rev. Father Murphy celebrated a requiem high mass for the repose of her soul. A large number of Ulysses friends were in attendance at the last rites. The remains were brought to Ulysses where interment was made by the side of her little daughter in the Catholic cemetery near town, where Fathers Loughran and Pastorek had charge of the committal services.
