A Graveside Service will be held in the Cummaquid Cemetery on Wednesday, February 23, at 1 p.m. Visiting hours in the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Rd. (Rt. 28), Marstons Mills on Tuesday, February 22, from 5-8 p.m. SANDWICH- Ellen P. (Walls) Pierce, 89, died Saturday at Cape Heritage Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Leroy F. Cotell Sr. and the late George W. Pierce Sr. Born in Rockland, Mrs. Pierce graduated from Saint Joseph's Convent in Dorchester. She was a homemaker and head housekeeper for the Ocean Mist Motor Lodge for many years. Mrs. Pierce loved flowers, gardening, birds, animals and her family. She also enjoyed opening up her home to children from the Fresh Air Fund. Surviving are five sons, Leroy Cotell of Harwich, Joseph Cotell of Hyannis, Charles Pierce of Longwood, Fla., George Pierce of South Dennis and Jerome Pierce of Centerville; six daughters, Janice Bigwood of Holiday, Fla., Joanne Lopes of Hyannis, Mary-Ellen McIntyre of Hiram, Ga., Patricia Compagnone of Plymouth, Kathryn Shepherd of Walton, Ind., and Peggy-Lou Laffoon of Forestdale; 35 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Joan Cotell and the late William Cotell. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow in John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road (Route 28), Marstons Mills.
