Ellen was born on February 24, 1917 in Huntly, Nebraska to Richard and Nancy (Gifford) Driefholt. Ellen married Herbert Jaenicke on July 30, 1937 in Grant, NE. Jaenicke, age 94, of North Platte, died October 27, 2011 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center . Ellen was born on February 24, 1917 in Huntly, Nebraska to Richard and Nancy (Gifford) Driefholt. Ellen married Herbert Jaenicke on July 30, 1937 in Grant, NE. In 1944, the couple moved to North Platte . Ellen was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1938, and the United Methodist Women. She was a Girl Scout Leader and Sunday School Teacher for many years. Ellen was a volunteer for the Red Cross, and was proud to have donated over 20 gallons of blood. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren's activities. She was known by her grandchildren as "Hot Rod Granny". Ellen always had beautiful gardens and enjoyed feeding her birds. Survivors include her son, Robert (Delores) Jaenicke of North Platte; sisters, Louisa Terry of Chadron, NE, Darlene Berges of Aurora, CO, and Shirley Krauter of Nebraska City ; son-in-law Derl Lunkwitz of North Platte; a special niece, Frances Vedder of North Platte ; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, two daughters, Marlene Lunkwitz and Linda (Phil) Haller; a brother, James Driefholt, and a special niece and nephew, Donna Shaw andJames Huguenin. Memorials may be given in her memory. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Central Time, Wednesday November 2, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in North Platte with the Rev. Douglas Delp officiating. Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Mountain Time at the Paxton Cemetery . Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
