Mr. Couture was born Nov. 19, 1913, in rural Clyde to Med and Eleanor Tremblay Couture. He passed from this life at his residence in Clyde, Kansas on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at the age of 93. He graduated from Clyde High School in 1931. He owned and operated Clyde IGA Grocery from 1940 to 1982. He married Bernice M. Brunhaver on May 23, 1939 in Lincoln, NE. She preceded him in death on June 19, 1996. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice, parents, sister, Jeanette Bachand and a great-granddaughter. Survivors include three daughters, Connie Gallagher of Clyde, Nancy Henry of Bloomington, Ind., and Wanda Alexander of Nashville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Clyde. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. A parish rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Friday at Chaput Mortuary, 310 Washington, P.O. Box 291, Clyde 66938. Memorials may be made to the Mount Calvary Cemetery Fund. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
