He was living with the following: Frank Trautloff - Dad (46) Frank Trautloff Jr. - Brother (19) (this couldn't be the same brother as in the 1900 census...unless he didn't age.) Richard Trautloff - Brother (16) Herman Trautloff - Brother (12) Albert Trautloff - Brother (10) Henry Trautloff - Brother (8) Bertha Trautloff - Sister (5) Minnie Trautloff - Sister (3) The mother, Josephine wasn't mentioned in the 1910 census, as she had died the year before in childbirth. There is a younger "Frank" in both of the census (1900 & 1910)...but he is listed as the same age in both. The Atchison Daily Globe (Atchison, KS) Feb.19,1919 Wed FRANK TRAUTLOFF IS A MIGHTY GOOD MAN When speaking of good men, people of this neighborhood point with pride to Frank Trautloff. Mrs. Trautloff died nine years ago, leaving a family of eight children, the youngest a little girl eighteen months old. Mr. Trautloff undertook the task of keeping the family together. Only the mothers of large families of boys know what it means to keep the overalls and shirts patched for six boys. Neighbors say Mr. Trautloff worked during the day in the fields; doing the housework, mending and baking bread at night. When any of his children were ill, Mr. Trautloff never thought of rest for himself, but stayed up all night keeping the house warm and caring for them. He had as many as three children in bed at one time with typhoid fever. Mr. Trautloff has bought a modern cally nothing [sentence didn’t make sense?] and now owns one of the best farms in Atchison county.. Wishing to give his younger children the advantage of an education, Mr. Trauntloff has bought a modern home in Atchison and retired, leaving his son Elmer to farm the home place.
