Ree Heights Review, Ree Heights, Hand, South Dakota, Friday, April 30, 1965, Vol 53 #50, p1 c4 Funeral Services Held For Elmer Parsons Funeral services were held in the First Presbyterian Church of Miller Saturday afternoon for Elmer Parsons who died suddenly Wednesday afternoon in the Hand County Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Tyra Talley had charge of the services and burial was in the GAR Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were Don Wagner, Duke Testerman, Dwayne Halse, Ed Labor, Earl Taylor and Harry Corrin. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Roberts, Lloyd Weaver, F.W. Johnson, Tim Christopherson, Myron Waring, Kenneth Gard, Harlan Bushfield, and Robert Lager. Elmer Parson was born Dec. 9, 1899, at Orland Park, Ill., the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Parson. He moved with his parents to Yankton county in 1905, and in 1916 to south Hand county. On April 2, 1924, he was married to Helen Huisman. Parsons was engaged in farming until 1958 when the family moved to Miller. He worked for a time for the ASC and was assistant custodian for a time at the Miller Armory. At the time of his death he was custodian at the First National Bank of Miller. Surviving are the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Beryl Wagner, two grandchildren, Carol and Gary Wagner, one sister, Mrs. Beulah Hancock of Miller, and one brother, Ward Parsons, of Swarthmore, Pa. His parents and three brothers preceded him in death.
