Son of Frederick Casner and Hannah Eunice Barber OBITUARY THE RUSSELL UNION-TRIBUNE Russell, Iowa Thursday, June 4, 1942 ELZA V. CASNER Elza Victor Casner, son of Fred and Eunice Casner, was born in Story County, Iowa near Nevada, on July 3rd, 1864 and departed this life on May 27, 1942 at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 26 days. His entire life was spent in and near Polk and Lucas Counties. He was united in marriage May 13th, 1885 to Irena Bell Mumford. To this union nine children were born, six of whom are living, three of which, with his loving wife, have preceded him in death, two sons, Freddie and James and one daughter, Winnie. Those who remain to mourn his going are his daughters, Mrs. Ella Maddy, Mrs. Edith Etter, both of Russell, Mrs. Eunice Karron of Des Moines. Two sons, Elza of Des Moines, Ezra K. of Runnels, Iowa and Edward of Springfield, Mo. Twenty nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Daisy Rhinerson, Mrs. Pink Lammey, two brothers, Lorenzo and Gilbert, all of near Des Moines. Two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Swartz and Mrs. Rosie Fox and one brother, George preceded him in death. In earlier life Mr. Casner was a member of the Modern Woodman of America Lodge. He had been in failing health for some time but his death was caused by a car accident near his home. Mr. Casner was a kind father, a devoted husband and a splendid neighbor, his going will leave a vacancy no one else can fill. He numbered his friends by his acquaintances. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Zion Church, conducted by Rev. A. E. Beals of Russell and burial was in the Zion Cemetery.
