Casner and Irena Bell Mumford OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, August 27, 1970 MADDY - Mrs. Ella May Maddy, daughter of Elza and Irena Bell Mumford Casner, was born in Polk County, Iowa, January 22, 1893 and passed away in Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, August 15, 1970, at the age of 77 years, 6 months and 23 days. Her early childhood was spent in Missouri and Lucas County. On May 5, 1909 she was united in marriage to John L. Maddy and five children came to bless their home. For the past 60 years she has resided on the same farm northeast of Russell and was a member of the Zion Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her four daughters, Mrs. Edith Robuck of Des Moines; Mrs. Elsie Durham of Knoxville; Mrs. Eva Boldt of Russell; Mrs. Leila Clark of Clear Lake; one son, Frank Maddy of Palouse, Wash.; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Edward Casner of Stafford, Mo., and Elza Casner of Salinas, Calif., two sisters, Eunice Rhodes of Des Moines and Mrs. Edith Etter of Chariton. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She was a caring mother and enjoyed her home and family. Services were held Monday, August 18th at the Woodman Funeral Home in Russell with the Rev. Wauneita McConnell officiating. Interment was in the Zion Cemetery. Obituary courtesy of Charles M. Wright
