As for Bahnfleth, whose name was later memorialized through the naming of Emil Bahnfleth Park at 950 Seamas Ave., he never witnessed the opening of the expanded zoo, as he died at the age of 70 on March 30, 1961. ---------------------------------------------------- The 1930 Salinas, California, Directory states his occupation was trucking, residence 120a Abbott Street, spouse Emma A. Bahnfleth. Sacramento Directories state that between 1937 and 1945, and perhaps longer, he was a manufacturer of dog food. In 1955 he was a city councilman for Sacramento. Emil married his first wife, Julia Caroline Lorenzen, May 16, 1913. They were divorced between January 14, 1920, and 1930. Their children: Marguerite R. Bahnfleth 1914 – 2001 Julia Elsa Bahnfleth 1916 – 2010 He married his second wife, Emma A. Unknown, by 1930. She died March 1, 1932. He married his third wife, Edna Clara Stacy, by 1935.
