Her parents came from the Alsac Lorraine area of France. It was probably near Ban de La Roche. All the children were born in Illinois. The family lived in Adams in LaSalle County, Illinois. Her parents moved to Woolstock, Wright, Woolstock around 1880. Emily Claude married Henry Claude on October 31, 1868 in LaSalle County. He was the son of Henry G.and Mary T. Claude. He states this on a later Iowa Marriage license. They have one son named Charles Edward Claude in 1872. In later records, he uses Edward Charles Claude. Emily and Henry live in Adams, Illinois in the 1870 census with Henry's parents. In the1880 Census, Henry's mother, Mary T. Marshall Claude is living with them. They must have moved to Iowa by 1884 because Mary is buried in the French Cemetery in Woolstock, Iowa on November 12, 1884. In the 1885 Iowa census, they are living near Woolstock, Iowa and are living next door to Emily's parents Julian and Julia Claude. Henry marries Josephine Kepler from Woolstock around 1886. Henry will live to be 90 and is buried in the French Church Cemetery. This marriage certificate confirms his parents as Henry G. and Mary Marshall Claude. Emily must have married Charles Colle around 1886. They have four children George J Colle, Sadie S. Colle, William Davis Colle, and Claudie J. Colle. The two oldest were born in Wright County and the youngest was born in Nebraska. Charles must have passed away because Emily is back in Woolstock living with her father Julian Claude in the 1895 Iowa census. On January 3, 1897, Emily marries Henry Mourlam in Woolstock, Iowa. In 1900, she is living on her farm. Emily is still using the Mourlam name. In 1905, Emily lists herself as Emily Claude living with her three children. Emily marries Joshua M. Croghan on October 29, 1910 in Atlantic, Iowa. Emily is 58 and Joshua is 62. By 1920, Emily is back in the Eagle Grove area and is divorced. Emily Claude Croghan dies in Eagle Grove. Emily dies at 89 years of age. Emily is buried under a beautiful tree with a stone that says Willie that matches her gravestone. Emily states that she had one child that passed. Willie is that child. His name was William Davis Colle. Records at the cemetery list him as Little Willie.
