Read More	The Colfax Clipper, 27 June 1907, Volume 29, No. 5, page 1 – Obituary Notice – Emma Alta Tiffany, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Tiffany, of Collins, Iowa, was summoned to her heavenly home Wednesday June 19, 1907, at the age of 21 years. She leaves her father and mother, her sister Clara, her three brothers, Carl, Ray and Joseph, besides her grandpa Tiffany and grandpa and grandma Stock. The funeral services were conducted by Alvin Macy at Ashton Chapel, Friday afternoon. She was laid to rest in the cemetery by the chapel. Emma had yielded her heart to Christ at the age of fifteen years, becoming a consecrated member of the Church of Christ. She attended the Colfax high school a short time until a spell of sickness obliged her to leave. Moved by the impulse of Christ’s love, she denied herself, forsook all and followed him, entering the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, September 15, 1906, to take a nurse’s course that she might be prepared to render loving and efficient service for humanity. From here, God in His perfect wisdom and great love saw fit to call her to higher service after over five weeks’ siege with the typhoid fever. Her cheerful disposition and kindly spirit won her friends everywhere. Although her life was short counted by years, yet measured by her great motives, invincible determination, Christ-like spirit of self sacrifice and loving ministry it was great as God reckons, and ranked with those master spirits who have labored to make the world better. “Her soul was like a star that dwelt apart” She is not dead by sleepeth. “Her day is begun, not ended. Her sun is risen, not set. Her life is beyond the reach of death and change, not ended but begun. O noble soul, O gentle spirit.” While we say, “farewell” here, they will say, “all hail” over there. *************************************************************************** Newspaper source unknown, June 1907, Jasper County, Iowa – Obituary – Emma Alta Tiffany, was born May 21st, 1886, died June 19, 1907, aged twenty-one years and twenty-eight days. She united with the Church of Christ at the age of fifteen and has ever since been a devoted member of that church. She formerly was a member of the Colfax high school, class of 1906, but did not continue in the class till she graduated. Many of her former class mates attended the funeral and brought flowers to show their love and esteem. She entered the training school at Des Moines and was training for a professional nurse, a position which she was well qualified to fill. She contracted the typhoid fever from a patient whom she was nursing and although all that skill and loving care could do her recovery was not to be. The funeral was held at Ashton church and the remains were buried in the Ashton cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. Macy an old friend of the family assisted by Rev. Howery, pastor of the church at Collins. A large number of relatives and friends attended the funeral. Among those from a distance were the superintendent of the hospital and the room mate of the deceased. The pall bearers were Chas. Greigg and Alyia Moore of Colfax and John Berry and Eddie Pulaski. Miss Tiffany was a daughter of Lincoln Tiffany of Clear Creek. She leaves beside her parents, three brothers and one sister, also her grandfather Joseph Stock of this place. She was a young lady of much promise and had a host of friends who deeply mourn her early death and extend to the parents and relatives their deepest sympathy.
