LINCOLN TIFFANY DIED MONDAY MORNING – Funeral Services Wednesday Afternoon at Ashton Chapel Mrs. Lincoln Tiffany, of Clear Creek township, passed away at her home Monday morning, following a stroke suffered last week, from which she failed to rally. Previous to the stroke, Mrs. Tiffany had been in her usual health and her sudden death comes as a severe shock to her large circle of friends. Mrs. Tiffany was truly one of the pioneers of Jasper county and Clear Creek township, having spent her entire life of near 71 years in the community, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Stock being pioneers of the county. Had she lived until February 18th, Mr. and Mrs. Tiffany, would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary, their golden wedding anniversary having been observed three years ago. On Feb. 18, 1860, Mary Ella Stock was united in marriage to Lincoln Tiffany. To his union three sons and one daughter were born, Carl Tiffany of Colfax, Ray and Joseph of Collins and Clara at home. Besides her husband and children, Mrs. Tiffany is survived by eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Chas. Smith of Mt. Sania, Washington. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from Ashton Chapel by Rev. Green of Farrar, with burial at Ashton. ELLA TIFFANY – FINAL RITES ARE CONDUCTED FOR CLEAR CREEK RESIDENT – Services for Mrs. Ella Tiffany are held Wednesday at Ashton Chapel - Was Nearly Seventy Years Old Funeral services for Mrs. F. Lincoln Tiffany of Clear Creek township were held last Wednesday afternoon, Oct., 18th, at 2:00 o’clock from Ashton Chapel, with Rev. C. R. Green of Farrar in charge. Interment was made in the Ashton cemetery. Mrs. Tiffany passed away Monday, Oct., 16th, after a few days following a stroke. Special music was furnished for the service by Lloyd Patton who sang several selections. Miss Helen Stevens was accompanist. Pallbearers were Earl Robinson, Ed Powleske, Clarence DeReus, Edward Signs, Frank Jones, and Russell Warner. Mary Ella Stock – Mary Ella Stock, eldest child of Joseph and Rachel DeWitt Stock, was born in Clear Creek township, Jasper county, Iowa, on December 13, 1862. She slept away peacefully on Monday morning, October 16th, 1933, just as the sun was coming over the Eastern hills, after a few days illness. She attained the age of 69 years, 10 months and 3 days. On February 18th, 1880 she was united in marriage with Fremont Lincoln Tiffany at Newton, Iowa. They went to housekeeping and lived that year on a farm near Oswalt, and then moved to a farm near Clyde. In November 1889 they moved to the farm of Mr. Tiffany’s father and this has been their dwelling for nearly 44 years. To this union five children were born, three sons, Carl of Colfax, Ray of Collins, and Joseph of Clear Creek; two daughters, Emma Alta, who died in nurses training at the Methodist hospital on June 19th, 1907, at the age of 21 years, and Clara Viola at home. Besides the husband and four children, eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, on sister, Mrs. Chas. E. Smith, an invalid of Montesano, Washington, an aged aunt, Mrs. J. A. Schroyer who is in a critical condition at her home in Baxter, also survive. Her parents and one brother, Joseph Riley Stock, preceded her in death. Mrs. Tiffany united with the Christian church early in life and later united with the Methodist church. She was a member of the W. F. M. S. for several years and the Woman’s Sunday-school class, but her chief interest in life was in doing for her home and her loved ones. She and her daughter potted plants for the window garden the morning she was stricken and that noon while sitting at the dinner table suffered the stroke which after a few days proved fatal CARD OF THANKS – We desire to express our deep appreciation for the many kindly acts and assistance during the sickness and death of our wife, mother and grandmother. F. L. TIFFANY – Funeral services for Mrs. F. L. Tiffany were held at Ashton Chapel on Wednesday, October 18, at 2 p. m. The Rev. C. R. Green of the Farrar Methodist church preached the sermon, reading John 14. Rev. Lloyd Patton, accompanied at the piano by Miss Helen Stevens, sang, “The Old Rugged Cross,” “Shall We Meet Beyond the River,” and “Safe In the Arms of Jesus.” The pall bearers were Edward Signs, Edward Powleske, Frank Jones, Russell Warner, Earl Robinson and Clarence DeReus. Stanley Byal and Ralph Maxwell were ushers. Burial was in the Ashton cemetery beside her daughter. Among the friends from a distance in attendance at the services were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Osteen of Prophetstown, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Martin of Carrolton, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Campbell of Des Moines, Mrs. M. Obituary – Mary Ella, eldest child of Joseph and Rachel Dewitt Stock, was born in Clear Creek township, Jasper county, Iowa, Dec. 13, 1863. She died at her home, here, Monday morning, Oct. 16, 1933, aged nearly 70 years. She and her daughter were potting plants on Wednesday for their window garden and she took a cerebral hemorrhage at the close of the noonday meal she had prepared on that day, Oct. 4. Feb. 18, 1880, she was united in marriage to Fremont Lincoln Tiffany at Newton. They lived on a farm near Valeria that year and then moved to their farm near Clyde. In November, 1889, they moved to the old Sylvester Tiffany homestead, where Mr. Tiffany’s parents located when married in 1856, and here he was born and reared. For nearly 44 years this had been her home. To this union five children were born: three sons, Carl Tiffany of Colfax, Ray Tiffany of Collins, Joseph Sylvester Tiffany of Clear Creek; two daughters, Emma Alta, who died in nurse’s training at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, June19, 1907, and Clara Viola, at home.
