EMMA BERRY Mrs. Emma Berry, who have lived in Jewell, since 1877, died of heart disease in the early hours of the new year, Jan. 1, 1935, at the home of her sister Mrs. Hattie Topliff,. Her death occurred during her sleep, and was entirely unexpected by relatives. Mrs. Berry had been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Raymond Lowe, until about a week previous to her death, when she went to the home of her sister, expecting to stay the remainder of her winter. Before her marriage Mrs. Berry was Emma Jane Henninger. She was born in Christian county, Pa., Feb. 7, 1860. At the time of her death she was 74 years, 10 months and 24 days old. she came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John S. Henninger, to Jewell county in 1877, and has been a resident here since that time with the exception of three years spent in Arkansas. She married Thos. J. Berry, Nov. 27, 1884. Mr. Berry died Jan. 31, 1916. She is survived by a son Preston W. Berry, of Otego; a daughter, Esther M. Lowe, of Jewell; two brothers, W. S. Henninger, of Jewell, and Will Henninger, of Fall City, Nebr.; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Topliff, of Jewell; and four grandchildren, Grant Berry and Florence, Charles Ivan, and Wilma Jean Lowe. Mrs. Berry was a faithful member of the Evangelical church and was the last surviving charter member of the Women's Foreign Missionary society of the church in Jewell. As a nurse Mrs. Berry has ministered to many in time of illness, and her ministration was made more helpful by her kindly disposition and cheerful and friendly attitude toward those with whom she come in contact. The funeral service was held today at the Evangelical church conducted by her pastor, the Rev. R. J. Schadt.
