For many years, Mrs. Tolpiff has lived quietly at her home in Jewell and her friendship was highly regarded by neighbors and residents of this community. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Evangelical church, where she was a faithful and loyal member. JC Republican HARRIET MARIA HENNINGER Harriet Maria Henninger, a daughter of John S. and Esther Henninger, was born July 4, 1869, near Loganton, Clinton county, Pa. Her death occurred September 7, 1938, at her home in Jewell, Kansas. In December of the year 1877 the Henninger family moved to Kansas and had a considerable part in developing and building the community, and particularly the city of Jewell. It will be noted that Mrs. Topliff spent 61 years in this vicinity and may rightfully be considered one of its pioneers. She was one of a family of 15 children. With brothers and sisters she attended the Foster school south of Jewell. The church also claimed its share of her time in youth. She united with the Evangelical church in her early teens. The early part of her mature life was spent in the home of her parents. After the passing of her mother in 1892 she assumed the responsibility of caring for her father when the infirmities of age were upon him. On June 20, 1916, she was united in marriage to Newton N. Topliff. Mr. Topliff preceded her in depth April 1, 1922. Five sisters and eight brothers also preceded her. Her surviving relative are one brother W. S. Henninger of Jewell; three stepsons, James E. Topliff and Ezra N. Topliff of Jewell, and George H. Topliff of Beloit; ten step grandchildren; and 33 nephews and nieces. For many years Mrs. Topliff was a member of the local Woman's Relief Corps. She was also one of the early members of the Woman's Missionary Society of the Evangelical church. Her quiet, friendly disposition won her the love and esteem of a wide circle of friends. Her loyalty to her church was evidenced by faithfulness in attendance, liberal support and life-long devotion to the interests of the Kingdom. A good life has finished its earthly course and will be greatly missed.
