Description	:	Emma Katherine McFarland, daughter of Sebastian and Mary Buehler, was born in Richland township near Odebolt on December 6, 1880 and died October 2, 1955, at the age of 74 years and 10 months. Mrs. McFarland grew into womanhood in the Odebolt community, and united in marriage with Edward Hix Feb 25, 1903. This union was blessed with two sons, Warren and George. Read More	Emma Katherine McFarland, daughter of Sebastian and Mary Buehler, was born in Richland township near Odebolt on December 6, 1880 and died October 2, 1955, at the age of 74 years and 10 months. Mrs. McFarland grew into womanhood in the Odebolt community, and united in marriage with Edward Hix Feb 25, 1903. This union was blessed with two sons, Warren and George. Sickness came and on March 31, 1923 Mr. Hix passed away. Mrs. McFarland was a member of the Methodist church of Odebolt, and in the days of her health took an active part in the Sunday school and Womans Society. She was also an active member of the Order of Eastern Star. On Nov. 9, 1922 she was united in marriage with Gilmar McFarland, who died May 24, 1948. When failing health made it necessary to leave her home in Odebolt she went to make her home with her son Walter and family of Alta, Iowa. During these three years she has been patient under her affliction. She is survived by her two sons, Warren E. Hix of Alta and George S. Hix of Odebolt, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Five step children; Earl, Glen and Vern McFarland all of Odebolt. Mrs Ethel Hardy of Long Beach CA, and Mrs. Ruth Box of Midland, MI. Two brothers Sebastian and Henry Buehler of Odebolt, three sisters, Mrs. William (Julia) Kuebl of Windom, MN, Mrs. Anna Hix of Odebolt and Mrs. David (Louise) Edgar of Arthur, Iowa. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, October 4 at the Methodist church with the Rev. Lyle W. Lieder in charge of the services. Miss Georgia Hix sang several hymns during her grandmother's funeral. She was accompanied by Mrs. Marion Hix. Mrs. Charles Krusenstjerna and Mrs. Alvin Krusenstjerna were in charge of the flowers. Pallbearers were Earl McFarland, Jr., Ray Johnson, Harold McFarland, Raymond Kuehl, Everett Kuehl and Edwin Kluckholn. Burial was made in the Odebolt cemetery.
