Read More	Belleville Telescope Thursday, June 11, 1959 Mrs. Emma Sorell Mrs. Emma Sorell, daughter of Ambrose and Esilda (Senez) Lafond, was born August 11, 1871 on. A farm south of Clyde, Kan., and passed away at her home in Clyde on May 21, 1959. To obtain her education, Emma walked across the prairie to the St. Joseph convent in St. Joseph, Kan., and later stayed at the home of Father Mollier there. She was always eager to further her learning and never let on opportunity pass to keep up with the world and neighbor news. On January 25, 1888, she was united in marriage to John B. Sorell at St. Joseph, Kan. To this union were born nine children: Evangeline, Joseph, Alma, Albert, Irene, Ludovic, Fremond, Philip and Armand. They resided on farms in the vicinity of Clyde until the death of her husband on March 10, 1927. Since that time, she has resided in Clyde. Mrs. Sorell belonged to the St. John the Baptist Catholic church, the St. John’s Guild and the Legion of Mary. In February 1951, Mrs. Sorell suffered a serious illness from which she never fully recovered. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, two brothers, one sister, her husband, two sons, Joseph who died in infancy and Armand, who died in 1953 and four grandsons. Left to mourn her departure are four sons and three daughters, Albert J. of Clay Center, Kan., Ludovic E. of Clifton, Kan., Fremond L. of Belleville, Kan., Philip of Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Tom Ferror (Evangeline) of Clyde, Kan., Mrs. Loris McLaughlin (Alma) of Morganville, Kan., Mrs. Archie Hamel, three daughters-in-law and three sons-in-law; 24 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren, one brother, Aldamore LaFond and one sister, Eveline Cravier, both of Kankakee, Ill., nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Monday morning, May 25, 1959 at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Clyde and burial was made in the St. Joseph Cemetery at St. Joseph, Kan.
