He received his education in the country school District No. 23 Howard County. As a young man he farmed and lived at home. Read More	From The Wolbach Messenger, September 18, 1975, transcribed by Linda Berney: Emmet Wagner was the youngest son of John and Eleanora Wagner, entering life March 2, 1891 in a sod house two miles south of Wolbach on the "Wagner Homestead." He received his education in the country school District No. 23 Howard County. As a young man he farmed and lived at home. On January 5, 1916 he was united in marriage to Hazel Messner at Grand Island. Three daughters blessed this union. For the majority of his life he was active in farming on a farm along Spring Creek, presently owned by the Dale Barr family. In 1950 Emmet retired and the family moved to town. After the completion of building a new home and being one of energetic nature, he began part time work at the Chicago Lumber Company and he remained there for 11 years. In recent years a favorite pastime was that of joining friends in an afternoon of cards. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. He was a former director of the Howard Greeley Rural Public Power District and supported Community Betterment projects throughout the years. Emmet will be remembered by loved ones for his generosities in helping others and making sure the younger generation was not forgotten. He often made the comment that he had lived a full and rewarding life. Preceding him in death were a daughter Maxine, his parents, one sister Katie, eight brothers, Otto, Henry, Fred, Will, Eddie, John, Gus and Charles. Left to mourn his departure are his wife Hazel, two daughters, Phyllis Frost of Fremont and Virgene Feather of Denver, Colorado, five grandchildren, Larry Feather, Grand Junction, Colorado, Jerry Feather of Denver, Colorado, Susan, Cindy and David Frost of Fremont; four great grandchildren, Justin and Angela Feather, Grand Junction, Colorado, Todd and Troy Feather, Cleveland, Ohio and many thoughtful nieces, nephews and friends.
