At the age of six, he moved with his parents from Gretna to Howard County in the year 1890, where the family settled on a farm south of Wolbach. Read More	From The Wolbach Messenger, December 1, 1955, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: John Thomas Wagner was born at Gretna, Nebraska, March 29, 1886, the son of John and Lena Wagner and passed away November 18, 1955 at the Howard County Memorial Hospital. At the age of six, he moved with his parents from Gretna to Howard County in the year 1890, where the family settled on a farm south of Wolbach. He and Hannah Petersen were married April 10, 1907 at St. Paul, Nebraska. To this union 6 children were born, four sons and 2 daughters. For one year he worked for the railroad at Sheridan, Wyoming. He was a progressive farmer, having for the past 40 years lived on the same farm in Howard County, south of wolbach. On Sunday, November 13 he was taken to the Howard County Memorial Hospital after suffering two heart attacks on Saturday and one that morning. He suffered the fourth attack on Wednesday and passed away on the following Friday, after being a patient in the hospital for six days. He was a loving husband and father and was the happiest when the family was all together. His parents, six brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife, Hannah; two daughters, Mrs. Catherine Fox of Portland, Oregon and Mrs. Mae Engle of Caldwell, Idaho; four sons, Julius of Cushing; Woodrow of Salem, Oregon, Ralph of Denver, Colorado and Roland of Fullerton; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his two brothers, Charles and Emmett of Wolbach and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
