Lewis, who passed away Friday, Febr. 14. The service was in charge of Rev. Harry J. Hart of the Methodist Church. Two solos "God Knows Best" and "Rock of Ages" were sung by Mrs. Albert Kyne, accompanied by Mrs. Ralph Kissinger. Mr. Lewis was born January 18, 1867, at Winchester,, Scott County, Illinois. At two years of age, he moved with his parents to a farm in Eastern Iowa near Mount Pleasant. In the spring of 1875, the family moved to a farm near Creston Iowa. This was his home until 1887 when he came to Fairfield and enrolled in the Fairfield College. After completing two years of study, he entered business and continuously served the public for 54 years until his retirement in 1843. In the year of 1897, he was united in marriage to Cora Jane Hart. To this union two sons were born, Harold H. of New York City and Raymond G. of Omaha. Mr. Lewis united with the Congregational Church in 1905 and continued a faithful member the merger of this organization with the Methodist Church at which time he and Mrs. Lewis joined the Methodist Church. During his active business career, he was well known for his progressive and energetic civic interests and was devoted to the welfare and development of this community. He was affiliated with the Knights of Pythias and Woodmen of the World Lodges. In addition, he is survived by three grand children; Gerald M. of Winetka, Ill; John K. and Judith Ann of Omaha. Eller, Clay Center; and Mr. and Mrs. Ward Ziggafoos, Glenvil.
