He was 54 years of age. Born in Maitland on October 6, 1921, he was the son of Mrs. Muriel Barry and the late Archibald Barry. He was a valued employee of the N.S. Dept. of Highways for the past 19 years. A devoted husband and father, he possessed a jovial and witty disposition which endeared him to his family and his many, many friends who will keenly feel his absence. Left to mourn their loss besides his aged mother, are his loving wife, Marjorie (nee Joudrey); two daughters, Linda (Mrs. Robert Veinotte), of Blockhouse; and Jeanie, at home; two sons, Douglas and Lee of Blockhouse; three grandchildren, Darren and Derek Veinotte and Christopher Barry; three sisters, Helen (Mrs. Archie Seamone), Nellie (Mrs. Donald Feindel),both of Bridgewater; and Isabel (Mrs. Ray Barry) of Maitland; four brothers, Henry of Marriott's Cove; Sidney and Kenneth of Maitland; and Lloyd, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan; and several nieces and nephews. His eldest brother, George of Skagway, Alaska, predeceased him by three days; a brother, Cecil, died in March, 1975; and two sisters, Audrey and Edith, died in infancy. The largely attended funeral service was held at Christ Anglican Church in Maitland on Thursday afternoon, May 6, at 2 o'clock with the Rector, Rev.William E. Dye conducting the service, assisted by Pastor Redmond Conroy of St.John's Lutheran Church, Mahone Bay. Mrs.Francis Langille was organist. The pallbearers were Gerald Haughen, Stanley Ernst, Merrill Langille, Wayne Tompkins, Cedric Veinotte, and Francis Langille. He was laid to rest in the family plot in the Garden of Rest Cemetery in Blockhouse. Thanks to Rosemary Rafuse
