Keller Dead The Clyde community was saddened last Thursday evening when word came that Erle Keller had passed away while visiting their daughter and son-in-law in Massachusetts. Erle was one of the old-timers among the Clyde business men, operating a bakery in Clyde for many years until his retirement a few years ago. He was a Clyde booster, and worked for the betterment of his town. Although his health had not permitted him to do many of the things he wished, Erle remained active in his church and community life; and was especially alert to the issues of the nation and the news of the times. His many local friends were glad that his health seemed to be improving, so the word of his sudden death came as a shock to all. Obituary -- Erle E. Keller** Erle E. Keller, resident of Clyde, Kansas for forty-two years, died on the 29th day of June, 1961 at Emerson Hospital, Concord, Massachusetts. His death was caused by a ruptured abdominal artery. Mr. and Mrs. Keller were visiting their daughter and son-in-law at the time of his death. He was born December 24, 1888 at Junction City, Kansas. He was the son of Thomas and Margaret Rose Cameron Keller. Erle Keller and Frances Klein were married at Glasco, Kansas, June 25, 1912. To this union three children were born: Margaret Reynolds of Beale Air Force Base, California; one son, Olin Thomas Keller, of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; and a daughter, Frances Hale of South Acton, Massachusetts. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a kind, loving parent, a beloved grandparent and a sincere, loyal friend to all who knew him. He was known for his kindness to children and his participation in church and community activities. He assisted in the organization of the Clyde Council of the Knights of Columbus and served as its Grand Knight. He was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus, later holding the post of District Deputy. He was president of the Kansas Bakers Association and in later years he was interested in raising certified seeds on his farm near Glasco. He leaves to mourn his death, besides his widow, three children; two sons-in-law, Colonel William L. Reynolds and Colonel F.J. Hale, and one daughter-in-law, Helen Keller; seven grandchildren: Roanld Lee, Steven Erle and Mary Jean Reynolds; Partick Erle and Cameron Ann Keller; F.J. Hale III and Olin Thomas Keller Hale. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Herbert Cox of Kansas City, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters. The funeral services were held July 5, 1961 at the Saint John the Baptist Church in Clyde and interment at St. Mary's Cemetery at Glasco, Ks. Pallbearers were Paul Klein, Fredrick Suttar, LaVerne Spaulding, Dr. Glen Klein, Harold Schmitz and Harland Berndt.
