Description	:	Ernest Rehm was born on May 15, 1881, the oldest of eleven children of William Rehm and Marie Schmule Rehm. Ernest's father was born in Hanover, Germany on January 15, 1844. He came to New York, and then to Clatonia, Nebraska, where Ernest was born on a farm north of town. Ernest said he only got through the second reader, but he jokingly commented that he attended a "high school" the grade school was built on a hill. He farmed near Clatonia for several years. On September 29, 1912 he married Anna Grummert Pohlmann. Her parents were William and Sophia Braasch Grummert. Ernest and Anna had three children: Tahlida (Rahe) Erna (Sievers) and Otto. In 1917 Ernest bought a farm four miles north and 1 1/2 miles west of Plymouth and moved there with his family. Hail destroyed all his crops in 1917, and in 1918 tragedy struck when Anna died with the flu. The children had to go to live with relatives. On December 12, 1923 Ernest married Alvena Rahe. Ernest's children returned home to live. Ernest and Alvena had four children of their own: Dale Alverta (Wells) Allen, and Shirley (Imes). Ernest and Alvena bought a home, and retired in Plymouth. They were members of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Plymouth. Ernest died March 23, 1965, at the age of 83.
