Mr. Torberson died July 21 at Good Samaritan Luther Manor in Sioux Falls. Officiating at the services was the Rev. Randall Gehring. The soloist was Margaret Schultz and Glenda Helgerson was the organist. Honorary pallbearers were Bruce Anderson, Doc Tuttle, Owen Amundson, Drew Anderson, Kenneth Lien, and Palmer Moen. Ernest Cecil Torberson was born March 16, 1911 in rural Lincoln County, SD. He attended school at Lantaff School. He was married to Avis Twedt on January 4, 1931 in Sioux Falls, SD. He worked for 12 years at John Morrell. He farmed the Ole T. Torberson homestead and trucked for 31 years. In 1971 he moved to Canton and worked for Huntting Elevator and Farmers Coop Oil Company. He retired in 1976. Mr. Torberson is survived by his wife, Avis of Canton; one son, Dennis Eugene of Champaign, Illinois; two daughters, Mrs. Don (Mila Mae) Lambert of Sioux Falls and Sharon Ann Torberson of Canton; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three brothers, Byron of Sioux Falls, Lester and Clifford, both of Canton; and two sisters, Myrtle Oliver of Canton and Bernice Michaeli of Sioux Falls.
