Read More	Ernest Bridwell, son of Edward Ernest and Laura Mae (Beaver) Bridwell, was born on a farm near Superior, NE, on April 17, 1918, and passed away from this earthly life on June 18, 1992, while a patient in Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, NE, at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 1 day. Ernie, as he was lovingly known by family and friends, attended school at Bostwick. He had lived his entire life in and around Superior. On August 16, 1940 in Mankato, KS, he was united in marriage to Blanche Arlene Olsen. This union was blessed with five children: Charles, Virginia, Robert, Sandy and Edward. Ernie worked for Oz Keifer on the farm for a few years, worked at the City Park and Cemetery and was employed by the City of Superior from September 1961 to his retirement in July 1983, the later of those years being Street Commissioner. He had also worked as a part-time police officer. He enjoyed woodworking and making furniture. Ernie loved to go fishing and in his younger years as he enjoyed hunting. Ernie was a member of the United Methodist Church in Superior, Odd Fellows Lodge, a 36 year member of the Superior Volunteer Fire Department and was Scoutmaster of Troop 254 for a few years. Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Charles; and three grandchildren, Edward Jr., Carrie Sue and Jamie Renae "JJ" Bridwell. Survivors include his wife, Blanche; five children, Charles and his wife Sylvia of Superior; Virginia Arlene Wilde of Mullen; Robert and his wife Kathy of Fort Collins, CO, Sandy Thomas and her husband Richard of Salina, KS, and Edward Bridwell of Smith Center, KS; two sisters, Virginia Schultz of Superior and Norma Comstock and her husband Wilbur of Prescott Valley, AZ; 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Monday, June 22, 1992, at 11 o'clock from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, NE, with Rev. Jerry Heydenberk, Pastor of United Methodist Church, officiating. Music was provided by Brigitte Lyon, soloist, singing "Beyond the Sunset" and "The Old Rugged Cross" with Carlita Price as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Bob Ziegler, Ron Springer, Don Shellhase, Larry Beavers, Leo Zadina and Kirk Young. Honorary pallbearers were Willard Springer and Don Meyer. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery with a Firefighter's Tribute and Odd Fellows Memorial. In charge of the arrangements was Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior.
