He was baptized on July 4, 1909 at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Byron, and confirmed in 1923 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Byron. He received his education at the Blue Mound Public School. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Wittke August 14, 1931, and to this union four children were born. He lived in the Byron community all of his life, engaged in farming until his retirement In 1973. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Byron, and the senior citizens. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Margaret Elaine: three sisters, Emma Schlueter, Frieda Wittke and Ida Coulter; one grandson, Jeffrey Roe. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of the home; one son, Martin Kroeger San Antonio, Tex.; two daughters, Marjorie Dunne and daughter, Shannon of Costa Mesa, Calif.; Mrs. Roger (Carol) Roe and children, John and Angela Roe of Superior; two brothers, Albert Kroeger of Byron, Otto Kroeger of Lincoln, Nebr.; two sisters, Mrs. Albert (Anna) Rademacher of Newkirk, Okla., Mrs. Raymond (Hilda) Marquart of Byron. Funeral services were held at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Byron, February 28, conducted by Pastor Roger Lenander. Interment was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
