He was born on March 19, 1928 to Henry H. and Martha (Engelke) Bischoff in Freedom Township, Napoleon, Ohio. He was confirmed April 18, 1943 at St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom Township, Napoleon. He married Lois E. Germann on June 19, 1953 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Napoleon. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church Napoleon Township, American Legion Post 300, the Low German Club and the Jolly Timers bowling league. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He is survived by Lois, his loving wife of 63 years. He loved and was proud of his three children Sandy (Al) Stoots, Portage, Ohio; Roger Bischoff, Ridgeville Corners, Ohio; Jerry (Jane) Bischoff, Warsaw, Indiana; as well as his grandchildren, Brian Stoots, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Doug Stoots, North Olmsted, Ohio; and Katie (Danny) Ems, Columbia, Maryland. Also surviving are siblings Marie Eberle, Napoleon; Henry (Frances) Bischoff, Ridgeville Corners; Vernon (Lois) Bischoff, Napoleon; Wilma (Floyd) Keller, Napoleon and Margaret Meyer, Napoleon; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Alfred, Clarence and Herbert. He was a brick, block, and stone mason, retiring in 1990 after 35 years working in the trade. He took pride in having built his family's home. He enjoyed nature, fishing, bowling, music, polka dancing, attending Army reunions, time spent at the lake and socializing with family and his many friends. Visitation will be at the Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon on Tuesday, August 30 from 2 - 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday. The funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Napoleon Township on Wednesday August 31 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the church cemetery, where military honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Napoleon Township Memorial Fund or Foundation Fund, CHP Inpatient Hospice, Defiance, Ohio or the Lutheran Home, Napoleon. www.rodenbergerfuneralhome.com
