Read More	Old Settler Taken by Death Mrs. Ira Foreman, who had been in failing health for the past year, passed away at her home near Walnut at 1:15 Tuesday morning. Her illness did not become critical until last Thursday, when she was taken to her bed. She gradually became worse until the end came. Her death was attributed to heart trouble and complications. Mrs. Foreman was numbered among the sturdy pioneers of Knox County and passed through a number of privations and reared a large family. She, with her husband, had lived on the original homestead near Walnut for fifty four years. Besides her husband, Mrs. Foreman leaves to mourn four sons; Jay, Claude, Marcelius and Joe and two daughters; Mrs. Emil Gross of Alamo, Texas and Mrs. Leita Brookhauser of Orchard. Two sons, Floyd and Wesley, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held on Friday from the home at 1:00 o'clock and 1:30 at the Walnut church. Burial will be made in the Enterprise Cemetery. Extracted from: The Creighton News 11 Jan 1935 Bios contributed by Find A Grave Member # 47075564 ****** Mrs. Ira Foreman Laid to Rest Estella Butterfield, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Butterfield, was born February 5, 1860 at Kalamazoo, Michigan and died January 8, 1835 at the age of 74 years, eleven months and four days. The deceased was united in marriage to Ira Foreman February 27, 1879 at Newtonville, Iowa. To this union eight children were born, two preceding her in death; one, Ira, in infancy and Floyd, who passed on nine years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Foreman came to Nebraska in the year of 1880 and homesteaded the place near Walnut, west of Creighton, which has since been their home and on which they were living at the time of her death. Mrs. Foreman was a good Christian woman and had been a member of the Walnut United Brethern in Christ church for the past sixteen years. She was a charter member of the Ladies Aid, being active in that organization till death called her. Mrs. Foreman was affiliated with the Easter Star and the Degree of Honor Lodges and was also a member of the Walnut Ladies' Club. A kind and loving mother, Mrs. Foreman was highly esteemed by all who knew her. Many are those, who cannot help but think of the service rendered by this grand old lady on various occasions in the community in which she resided. She had passed through innumerable hardships and the joys and pleasures that can but come from a life of stability and it is character such as this that stands storms of time. Think of it, fifty four years on the old homestead. How unusual, how interesting. Who can doubt, but that the footprints she had made upon the sands of time have made their mark and shall live on for good in the lives of others. Surviving relatives are: her husband; four sons, Jay and Claude of Creighton, Joe and Marcelous of near Venus; two daughters, Mrs. Leta Brookhouser, Orchard, Mrs. Emil Gross, Alamo, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Have Montgomery, Creighton; 25 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. The last rites were held from the home and at the Walnut United Brethern church Friday afternoon at 1:30. The services were conducted by Rev. Conner. A large concourse of friends was present to pay a fitting tribute to a departed one. Interment was made in the Enterprise cemetery.
