COCHRAN DEAD Passed Away Following Operation For Appendicitis Mrs. Stella Cochran, wife of James Cochran, passed away at the Homestake hospital in this city at 6 o’clock last evening. On Tuesday, December 21, she was able to walk to the hospital where she submitted to an operation for chronic appendicitis. She had been in ill health for several years past and it was hoped that an operation would bring permanent relief. The remains will be taken to the Cochran home, 206 Prospect avenue, this evening. The time of the funeral will not be announced until two sisters and a brother, living in Nebraska, have been heard from. Mrs. Cochran, a woman whose admirable qualities drew to her many warm friends, was born 48 years ago at Onarga, Iroquois county, Illinois, and was married on May 17, 1888. She came to the Black Hills in 1895 to join her husband who had preceded her here. Practically all of the time since then they have lived in Lead, where they were known to their friends and neighbors as a couple deeply devoted to each other. Messages announcing her death have been sent to her two sisters and brother at Ewing, Neb., and to brothers of Mr. Cochran residing at Tacoma, Wash., and in Iowa. She was a member of the Yeomen and the Degree of Honor. Lead Daily Call, Friday, December 31, 1915, page 4: The funeral of Mrs. Estella Cochran, wife of Jas. L. Cochran, will be held at the Presbyterian church at 118 South Wall street Sunday afternoon with Rev. James A. Ayres officiating. The service will begin at the house at 2:30 pm.
