Armstrong, sr., prominent Atchison county farmer, who died yesterday afternoon at her home three miles west of Atchison, will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the First Presbyterian church with Dr. Charles A Hawley, officiating. The body will be taken from the Stanton and Stanton mortuary early tomorrow afternoon and will lie in state at the church the hour immediately preceding the service. Burial will be in the Cummings cemetery north of town. Born Feb. 13. 1876, at Lyndon, Kas., Mrs. Armstrong was a daughter of the late Prof. and Mrs. E. N. Draper. She moved to Atchison with her parents when she was nine years old, and for several years her father was a teacher at the Atchison Business College. On Feb. 21. 1894, she and Thomas Payton Armstrong of Atchison were united in marriage and began housekeeping in the south part of town. They lived there a year while a house was being erected on a farm south of Atchison to which they moved. After farming south of Atchison for 16 years, Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong purchased the farm west of Atchison where they lived at the time of her Mrs. Armstrong was a life-long member of the Presbyterian church and took an active part in church affairs. She was a member of the Veatch Bible class of the church, a member of the Afternoon Missionary society of the church, and was a member of the Parallel Home Demonstration unit. Throughout, her life Mrs. Armstrong's chief interests were in her family, her church, and her friends. She is survived by her husband, nine children, and 11 grandchildren. Her sons include Dr. Edwin W. Armstrong, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Parsons, who also is moderator for the Presbyterian church in Kansas, T. P. Armstrong, jr., farmer north of Lancaster, Willis Armstrong, who farms north of the Orphans Home, Floyd Armstrong, farmer west of Atchison, and Arthur Armstrong who operates the home farm with his father. The daughters are Miss Grace Armstrong, principal at Franklin school in Atchison, Mrs. Malford Hendrickson of north of Atchison, Miss Estella Armstrong, a teacher in the schools at Joplin, Mo. and Mrs. Fred Needham of Lancaster. Also surviving are three brothers, Floyd Draper of Topeka and Fred Draper and Earl Draper of Atchison. Two brothers preceded her in death.
