She was united in marriage to John W. Brown on December 24, 1924, and to this union four children were born: Willa, Wanda, John J., and Gerold E. Esther was a homemaker and lived in Seymour over 50 years before moving to Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John W. Brown; two sisters: Lela Thomas and Mae Rush; and four brothers: Orville, Bill, Elton, and Jay; grandson, David Ritter; and great-grandson, James Earl Scott. She is survived by her two daughters: Willa Faris of Des Moines, Ia., and Wanda Ritter of LeGrand, Ia.; son, Gerold E. Brown of Middleburg, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held November 13, 1999, from the Randolph Funeral Home in Seymour with Rev. Dale Smith officiating. "Amazing Grace" and "In the Garden" were played. Bearers were Rick Ritter, Richie Ritter, Terry Ritter, Randy Brown, Travis Bennett, and Danny Bennett. Interment was in Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour.
