He passed away October 10, 1995, at Marshalltown Medical Center at the age of 93 years, 4 months, and 27 days. He was united in marriage to Esther C. Brown, the son of Irvin B. and Nellie (Godfrey) Brown, was born May 13, 1902. He passed away October 10, 1995, at Marshalltown Medical Center at the age of 93 years, 4 months, and 27 days. He was united in marriage to Esther C. Grismore and to this union four children were born. He and Esther lived at the same house on Young Avenue in Seymour for 51 years. In his younger years, John worked in Wisconsin on dairy farms and railroad construction. He also worked as a farmer and worked for the City of Seymour for 27 years. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Esther of Seymour; his children, John J. Brown of Ankeny; Willa Faris of Des Moines; Wanda Ritter of LeGrand and Gerold of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Tommy Brown of Seymour; plus numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 14, 1995 at 10 a.m. from the Randolph Funeral Home in Seymour with Pastor Wade Cash officiating. The hymns "beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art" were played. Pallbearers were Terry Joe Ritter, Ricky Ritter, Russell Brown, Randy Brown, Danny Bennett, Travis Bennett and Richard Ritter. Interment was in Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour.
