Esther was born February 22, 1916 on a farm north of Holbrook in Gosper County, Nebraska, the only child of Bert and Lena (Cawthra) Lathrop. Esther received her education at Cambridge, Nebraska graduating from Cambridge (NE.) High School with the class of 1934. Following her education she was employed in several stores in the area for several years. In 1938 she was united in marriage to Ben Boyer and the couple made their home in various communities until he rejoined the United States Navy in 1942. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben in the South Pacific during World War II in January of 1943. In November 1944 Esther was united in marriage to Keith King and to this union two sons were born: Craig and Bradley. The family moved to Holdrege, Nebraska in 1951, where they owned and operated the A & A Motel for sixteen years. In 1986 she was preceded in death by her husband, Keith. Esther joined the Methodist Church in Omaha, Nebraska and later joined the First Baptist Church, where she was baptized. She enjoyed working with the women's groups and was active in various capacities for the church until age and health prohibited her from doing so. Esther loved her family, church friends and neighbors. Besides her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents.
