Loomis and Katie Kahler Loomis on October 12, 1906, at Fairmont, and died July 29, 1980, at Lincoln at the age of 73 years, nine months and 17 days. She was one of three daughters in the family. Her childhood was spent in Fairmont, where she graduated from Fairmont high school in 1925. She attended the Peru Normal School and the University of Nebraska, receiving her teaching certificate and teaching country school in the Fairmont and Crawford areas. On July 28, 1935, Ethel was married to Glenn C. Maulsby of Lebanon, Kas., in a double wedding with her sister, Dorothy, who married LIndell Churchill. Following their marriage, Ethel and Glenn operated a portable roller skating rink for a few years before settling permanently in Fairmont. To this union four children were born. Ethel was a 4-H club leader for many years, a member of the North Side club, a 50-year member of Eastern Star and a Life Member of the Nebraska Conference of the Women's Society of Christian Service. She enjoyed participating in a Bible study group. As a member of the Fairmont Methodist church, she was a devoted church worker, always organizing the picnic stands, banquets and funeral dinners. Ethel loved her children and grandchildren, taking special delight in baking for them. She was preceded in death by her father, her husband, and sisters, Marion Burns and Dorothy Churchill. Ethel is survived by her mother, Katie Loomis of Fairmont; sons, Richard of Washington, D.C., and Ron of Lincoln; daughters, Darlyne Sanburg of Wood River and Joyce Pauley of Lincoln; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held August 1, 1980, at the Fairmont Community church with Rev. Jay Vetter conducting the services. Mrs. Marvin Swartz accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Roland Hall, who sang, "How Great Thou Art" and "Beyond the Sunset." Pallbearers were Wayne Henkel, Wayne Pauley, Francis Schepers, Wendell Moul, Raymond Hall and Roger Quaintance. Graveside services were conducted by Mt. Moriah Chapter No. 38 of the Eastern Star.
