Description	:	Katie A. Kahler Loomis was born to Henry and Elizabeth Schleuning Kahler on June 14, 1887. She died on May 18, 1981, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 93 years. She was one of 12 children in her family. Katie came to the Fairmont community with her parents as a little girl, and spent her entire life here. She attended the Fairmont public schools. Kahler Loomis was born to Henry and Elizabeth Schleuning Kahler on June 14, 1887. She died on May 18, 1981, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 93 years. She was one of 12 children in her family. Katie came to the Fairmont community with her parents as a little girl, and spent her entire life here. She attended the Fairmont public schools. On December 29, 1904, she was united in marriage to Bryant David Loomis in Fairmont. To this union were born three daughters. During World War II, Katie was employed at Roth's Grocery and Dry Goods. In the 1950's Katie and Bryant operated the coffee shop at the Clarendon Hotel in Fairmont. For most of her adult life, Katie lived in the family home in the north part of Fairmont. She was one of the first residents in the Fairview apartments, moving there in 1966. She spent the last year of her life as a resident of Fairview Manor. Katie had been a member of Eastern Star, Northside Club and church women's groups. She was a member of the Fairmont Community Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, a wonderful cook and housekeeper. Katie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughters, Dorothy Churchill, Marion Burns and Ethel Maulsby; her granddaughter, Dotty Lou Churchill; and eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by one brother, Henry Kahler of York; two sisters, Elizabeth Branz of York and Luise Duncan of Kansas City, Mo.; grandchildren, Darlyne Sanburg, Ronald Maulsby, Richard Maulsby, Joyce Pauley, Cherrill Hadenfeldt, Connie Goeden, Robert Burns and Bonnie Langley; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Community Church at 2 p.m., Friday, May 22, 1981, with Rev. Jay Vetter officiating. Mrs. Marvin Swartz accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Federal Bridgman, who sang "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." The congregation sang "Amazing Grace." Pallbearers were Jim Langley, Bryan Sanburg, Sean Sanburg, Robert Burns, Eric Hadenfeldt and Ronald Maulsby. Interment was in the Fairmont Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal May 28th, 1981 page 6.
