ETHEL SPEARS CALLED BY DEATH IN CALIFORNIA Burial Service Held Here Last Friday For Former Resident Mrs. Ethel Spears, a former esteemed Akron resident, passed away October 23, 1953, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 70 years, and three months. Ethel Elizabeth Shedd was born July 23, 1883, to Alvah and Frances Shedd in Plymouth County, Iowa. Ethel graduated from the Akron schools and taught in the rural schools for several years. She was united in marriage with Isaac Edward Spears in 1901. To them were born seven children: Roger (who preceded in death in 1919); Evelyn, (Mrs. Duard Maley), of San Gabriel, California; Stanley, of Culver City, California; Raymond, of Long Beach, California; Edmond, of Downey, California; Naomie (Mrs. Russell Gilbert), of Torrance, California; and Frances (Mrs. Arthur Walling), of Stockton, California. Mrs. Spears husband preceded her in death here in 1927. She moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa, and later to Los Angeles. Mrs. Spears was a member of the First Baptist church and Vesper Chapter, No. 61, O.E.S., of Akron, and at the time of her passing was a member of the First Baptist church of Los Angeles. She is survived by her children, eleven grandchildren and one brother, Lee S. Shedd, of Akron, also nephews, Elton and Arnold Shedd and a niece, Mrs. H.C. Koch, of Akron. The body was brought to Akron for burial in the family lot in Riverside cemetery, accompanied by her son, Stanley. The graveside rites were conducted by Rev. Dan J.
