Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. She passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at her home. She was born December 17, 1924 in Hays, KS, the daughter of Franklin N. and Anna Mae (Haynes) M. LaRosh. She worked at East Heights Elementary School and in 1972 she began working at Watkins Library and then at William Allen White School of Journalism both at the University of Kansas until she retired in 1989. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. She passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at her home. She was born December 17, 1924 in Hays, KS, the daughter of Franklin N. and Anna Mae (Haynes) M. LaRosh. She worked at East Heights Elementary School and in 1972 she began working at Watkins Library and then at William Allen White School of Journalism both at the University of Kansas until she retired in 1989. She was married to Bennie Leroy Stewart on September 4, 1949 in Hutchinson, KS. He preceded her in death May 20, 2011. Survivors include two daughters: Anne (husband, David) Johnson, of Emmetsburg, IA, Christine (husband, James) Thomson, of Cedar Rapids, IA, two sons: David (wife, Renae) Stewart, of Mesa, AZ, Harold (wife, Darlene) Stewart, of Scottsbluff, NE, twenty-four grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings; a grandson; and a great grandson. The family will greet friends from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service on Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials in her name to the Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
