(Ethel Marie) Wilson, 81, at the Evangelical United Brethren church in Harlem. She passed away in a Havre hospital at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30th. Rev. R. J. Anderson officiated at the services. Vocal music was beautifully rendered by Ms. Omer Nelson, accompanied by Mrs. Victor Goldsmith at the organ. Pall bearers, all nephews of Mrs. Wilson were Mike (Clarence), Bill and Floyd Miller, Pete Goodheart, Dale Shupe and Earl McCracken. Honorary pallbearers were other nephews: Tom, Larry, Howard, Dan, Jack, Jay, Milton and Leslie Miller; Jack and Maurice Goodwill; Vince and Swede Goodheart. Interment was in the Harlem cemetery Ethel Marie Wilson was born Jan. 6, 1885, in Monroe County, Ohio, to Calvin and Mary Belle Devore. When she was two years old, her father passed away and she and her mother made their home with her maternal grandparents, Amos and Margaret Mobberly of Ohio. When Ethel was seven, her mother remarried and the family moved to North Dakota where she grew to womanhood and received her education. She was a graduate of Mayville Teachres College of Mayville, N.D. and taught school for six years in North Dakota and Minnesota. Among her memoirs were many treasured evidences of the esteem in which she was held by school personnel during her school years and teaching career. Her genuine love for children which, no doubt, contributed to her excellence as a teacher, remained with her throughout her life, and many a youngster (three generations of them) sat in wide-eyed wonder as she read to them and made fairy tales come to life. On January 27, 1909, she was united in holy matrimony at Solway, Minnesota to Wesley A. Wilson, member of a prominent Minnesota family. To this union were born two children, a son and a daughter. The family moved to Montana in 1918, with the intention of filing on a homestead. Finding no land to their liking, they purchased a home in Harlem. Here Mr. Wilson was employed by the Ditch Company, and Mrs. Wilson opened a maternity home. She was known for her hospitality, and many a teamster from the north in the early days found her home a haven of warmth and good hot meals. She joined the United Brethren church (now Evangelical United Brethren) soon after her arrival here, and was a faithful attendant until her fatal illness. She held various offices over the years in her church work, one of which was that of Sunday School Superintendent, a post she filled for some seventeen years. Preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and one brother, she leaves to mourn her passing her son Gerald of Harlem, her daughter Glennabelle Richards of Havre; seven grandchildren, one great grandchild and two brothers, Henry and Clyde Miller, both of Harlem. She also leaves a host of friends who cannot help but feel berift [sic – bereft], as the charm of her graciousness and refinement are qualities which are rarely found.
