On May 6, 1896, she was united to George D. Smith of Longford. To this union were born two daughters, Lucille and Nellie; two sons, Frank and George. She made her home in the Longford Community from the time of her marriage until the time of her death.She became a Christian at an early age and was a member of the Evangelical Church for more than 70 years.Preceding her in death were her husband, in 1944, her parents and eight brothers and sisters.She lived an active life, serving her community and church well. She was the happiest when doing for her family and friends.Surviving are her daughters, Mrs. Lucille Carter, Longford, Mrs. Wilfred Carter, Ames, her sons, Frank, Pensacola, Fla., George, Houston, Tex., a brother, Col. Harry M. Peck, Albuquerque, N. M., eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 23 at the Longford E.U.B. Church with the Rev. Lloyd Kurtz officiating. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. T. G. McCready singing "Good Night and Good Morning", and Mr. McCready singing "How Great Thou Art", with Miss Gwen Runnalls at the organ. Pallbearers were Doyle Wells, John Benfer, Howard Ferguson, John Faulkner, Roy Lilley and Herman Weiters. Interment was in Athlestane Cemetery." Obit provided by Linda Cunningham (#47644600).
