He was born in Surry County to Eugene Dalton and Cora Lee Matthews Young. Mr. Young was a retired major with the N.C. Highway Patrol, having served the citizens of North Carolina for 40 years. He served with the Enforcement Division for the western half of the state. Read More	------------------------- TRINITY, NC ~ Mr. Eugene Dalton "Gene" Young, 84, of Trinity died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, at the High Point Regional Hospital. He was born in Surry County to Eugene Dalton and Cora Lee Matthews Young. Mr. Young was a retired major with the N.C. Highway Patrol, having served the citizens of North Carolina for 40 years. He served with the Enforcement Division for the western half of the state. He was a member of the Retired Troopers Association, Retired Peace Officers Association, Retired State Employees Association and Retired Government Employees Association. Mr. Young began serving his country in the Marine Corps, but was drafted to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the European Theater of Operations. He was a member of Thomasville Lodge 214 A.F.&A.M. Thomasville, N.C., a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Valley of Asheville, and a member of the Oriental Shrine Oasis Temple in Charlotte. Mr. Young was a member of Forest Hills Presbyterian Church in High Point. Surviving are his wife, Faye Young of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brannon E. and Alexis Young of Greensboro and Terry A. and Wanda Young of Trinity; six grandchildren, Heath, Heather, Bryce, Krystal, Kari, and Dane Young; five great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Chris Bunn of Raleigh, Robin Hice of Zebulon and George Bunn of West Virginia. Mr. Young was preceded in death by his first wife, Beulah Beatrice Joyce Young, and a sister, Emma Elizabeth Lynch. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church in High Point, with the Rev. Joe Blankinship officiating. Burial will be in Hills Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Pilot Mountain, with Masonic burial rites conducted by Thomasville Lodge 214 A.F.&A.M. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Dec. 29, before the services at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church and at other times at the Young home in Trinity. Memorials may be made to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College St., Oxford, NC. 27565; or to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children Greenville Unit, 950 W.
