Description	:	Eva Marie, daughter of Jeremiah and Cynthia Campbell, was born December 21, 1854 in Durand Township, Winnebago County, Illinois (she was the youngest of four children) and passed away at the home of her son, W.E. As a small child, her schooling was somewhat retarded by poor health and so after finishing country school, she received instruction in Miss Holmes' Private School in Illinois before entering Evanston Academy, which she attended for two years, 1875-76. She then took up the study of music at Rockford Female Seminary, where she received her diploma after two and one-half years of study. While at Rockford Seminary, she made the acquaintance of Miss Jane Adams, with whom she roomed for one year. She taught one term of school near Battle Creek, Iowa. She received instruction in painting from Mrs. Perley, art teacher of Pecatonica, Illinois. She found much pleasure in painting pictures for her home and friends. She was married August 20, 1879 to Lewis Goodrich at Pecatonica, at which place they resided until moving to Nebraska in February, 1892. To this union were born three sons: Herbert Bryant, Willard Emerson, and Homer Campbell. Herbert Bryant was drowned in the Pecatonica river on August 18, 1891. She was a member of the Congregational church at Pecatonica, and upon moving to Nebraska, had her membership transferred to the First Congregational church of Fairmont, where she faithfully worked and worshiped until failing health forbade. After coming to Nebraska, she gave private piano lessons in and around Geneva, Exeter and Fairmont. She drove from place to place with horse and buggy, both summer and winter. She continued in this profession, giving lessons in her own home until past 75 years of age. Soon after the death of her husband, former county superintendent of Fillmore county schools and state senator from the 24th district to the 31st session of the Nebraska legislature, 1907-08, on November 2, 1914, she moved to town and lived alone until failing health necessitated her closing her home some four years ago and living with the families of her sons. She became bedfast the third of April, and though suffering no pain, gradually grew weaker until she passed into the last sleep. She leaves behind one stepson, Lewis Goodrich at Ingleside hospital; two sons, their wives, eight grandchildren and many nephews and nieces and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Federated church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. Issac Cassel the minister officiating. The music was furnished by a mixed quartet, Mrs. Mamie Kemp, Catherine Rupe, W.E. Black and Wayne Malsbary. Mildred Starks was the organist. The pallbearers were George Porter, R.V. Starks, Harry Mills, C.C. McElvain, O.E. Harmon and A.C. Ogden. Interment was in the Fairmont cemetery.
